Fashion career profile
Alessandra Facchinetti
Alessandra Facchinetti is an Italian fashion designer whose career has moved between major houses and independent creative work. She trained in art, sculpture and architecture before graduating from Istituto Marangoni in Milan. Her early fashion career began at Miu Miu in 1994; she later worked in Gucci womenswear, first as a design director and then as creative director of the women’s collections after Tom Ford’s departure. In 2006 she launched Moncler’s Gamme Rouge womenswear line. Valentino appointed her in 2007 to lead its women’s ready-to-wear and couture after the founder’s retirement, and in 2013 Tod’s named her creative director for womenswear across apparel, shoes and bags. She left Tod’s in 2016. The profile records these category-specific roles separately, rather than flattening design, line leadership and house-level creative direction into one generic job.
