Fashion career profile

Roberto Menichetti

Roberto Menichetti is an Italian fashion designer whose work spans design development, creative leadership and technical product innovation. Trained in textile processes and garment construction, he began with Claude Montana at GFT Group in 1989 and joined Jil Sander in 1992, where he worked across womenswear and later menswear. Burberry appointed him Creative Director in 1998. He helped establish Burberry Prorsum as a distinct runway line and reconnected the house’s British codes with a younger, more technical vocabulary. In 2004 CELINE appointed him to succeed Michael Kors; contemporary coverage called the role Artistic Director, while Menichetti’s own biography describes it as Consulting Creative Director. He later led design and project development for JH 1912 in China from 2014 to 2017. Menichetti continues to work as a consultant and through the family’s Menichetti Atelier, bringing a strong focus on textiles, manufacturing and the relationship between design and production.
