Paul Poiret
Paul Poiret was the Paris couture house founded by French designer Paul Poiret in 1903. It is a historical profile: the original house closed in 1929, so it must not be presented as a currently operating fashion business or as a continuing creative-director appointment. Poiret’s work helped establish a modern fashion vocabulary through looser, uncorseted silhouettes, colour, drape, bold geometry, theatrical presentation and an unusually integrated approach to illustration, perfume and decorative arts. His albums with Paul Iribe and Georges Lepape are early landmarks in fashion image-making and marketing. The directory links the historic house to Poiret’s person record and preserves its influence with dated context, while avoiding unsupported claims about later trademark use, ownership or current commercial activity.
