Galeries Lafayette

Galeries Lafayette is the Paris department-store group founded in 1893 by cousins Théophile Bader and Alphonse Kahn. Its Boulevard Haussmann flagship is known for its cupola and for bringing fashion, accessories, beauty, jewellery, home and food together with exhibitions, events and visitor services. The retailer’s influence comes from selection and presentation: it connects customers with established maisons and newer labels, rather than creating the collections it carries. Brand availability, pop-ups, shop-in-shops and window projects are therefore dated commercial context, not evidence that Galeries Lafayette owns a label, appoints its creative leadership or has an exclusive distribution relationship. The profile is intentionally careful with finance as well. Department-store group information, store traffic and supplier relationships do not establish standalone results for any individual brand or the commercial terms of a particular concession.
