Tracy Reese

Tracy Reese is an American fashion designer whose career spans contemporary womenswear, independent labels and community-based production. She earned an accelerated degree from Parsons in 1984, apprenticed with Martine Sitbon and later became design director for Perry Ellis’s Women’s Portfolio. Reese launched her namesake collection in 1997 and introduced the secondary line Plenty the following year, developing a recognizable language of saturated color, print and feminine silhouettes. She later launched plenty DRESSES in 2014. In 2019 she founded Hope for Flowers and returned to her hometown of Detroit; the label centers responsible sourcing, small-batch production and local creative work. Its Detroit studio has grown into an artisan and sewing-apprenticeship program, extending the project beyond seasonal clothing. Reese’s career therefore includes distinct design-director, founder and community-building chapters. The record connects Hope for Flowers to her earlier fashion business without implying that the newer label is simply a renamed version of the original company.
