Fashion career profile

Tomo Koizumi

Tomotoka Koizumi, known professionally as Tomo Koizumi, is a Japanese fashion and costume designer. He established his own label in 2011 while still a university student, after a boutique owner selected one of his dresses. His practice grew from early work as a stylist and costume assistant into costume design and made-to-order fashion. Bright colour, exuberant volume and bold silhouettes became recurring signatures across both his runway collections and costumes. Koizumi’s first runway show took place in New York in February 2019, bringing his independently developed work to an international audience. In 2020 he was named a finalist for the LVMH Prize. The LVMH profile identifies Japan as his nationality and workplace and links to his official site and Instagram. Available sources describe him as a university student when the label began but do not establish a completed degree, so this profile records that distinction without inventing an educational qualification or a separate fashion-house appointment.
