Fashion career profile

Thakoon Panichgul

Thakoon Panichgul is a Thai-born, American fashion designer and fashion-media founder. Raised in Omaha, Nebraska, he earned a business degree at Boston University, began in production and merchandising, worked at Harper’s Bazaar, and later studied design at Parsons School of Design. He presented his first ready-to-wear collection in September 2004, establishing a New York label known for romantic, feminine clothes and vivid prints. In 2006 he was one of three recipients of the Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund. His career also included collaborations with mass-market retailers and a later direct-to-consumer relaunch; the earlier fashion label paused after a period of financial and ownership changes. In 2019, Panichgul returned to editorial work by founding and directing HommeGirls, which developed from a web publication into a print biannual and later added a small apparel capsule. This record treats HommeGirls as a distinct media venture, not a continuation of the original Thakoon operating company, and distinguishes Panichgul’s education, fashion-house work and publishing activity.
