Fashion career profile
Stefano Pilati
Stefano Pilati is an Italian fashion designer from Milan whose career has moved between major European houses and independent practice. He worked at Cerruti, Giorgio Armani and Prada before joining Yves Saint Laurent in 2000; he became the French house’s creative director in 2004 and left in 2012. From January 2013, he led menswear design at Ermenegildo Zegna while also taking the creative direction of the group’s womenswear label Agnona. Pilati founded the Berlin-based, menswear-oriented label Random Identities in 2017. Its approach combines tailoring and personal wardrobe codes with a less conventional, more inclusive view of menswear. His profile keeps the YSL and Zegna-era appointments separate and identifies Random Identities as his own label, rather than implying that he currently leads another luxury house. No education credential is asserted because the sources reviewed do not establish one.
