Fashion career profile

Sergio Hudson

Sergio Hudson is an American fashion designer and founder of a namesake womenswear label. The company’s history dates its founding to 2014 and its re-establishment in 2016 with business partner Inga Beckham. Hudson studied design at Bauder College and developed a practice centred on immaculate tailoring, bold colour and sculpted silhouettes. The label describes its collections as modern American luxury and says they are produced in the United States. Hudson’s work has become especially visible through dressing public figures: Michelle Obama wore his burgundy tailoring at the 2021 presidential inauguration, while Vice President Kamala Harris wore a custom Hudson look that evening. Those appearances helped introduce his design codes to a much wider audience, but they are milestones in the designer’s public profile rather than evidence of a formal government appointment. This record separates Hudson’s personal design authorship from the company’s production and retail operations and does not claim a current role beyond the documented founder and creative-director remit.
