Satoshi Kondo

Satoshi Kondo is a Japanese fashion designer who has directed the main ISSEY MIYAKE line since the Spring/Summer 2020 season. He joined the Issey Miyake organization in 2007 after studying at Ueda College of Fashion in Osaka, and developed his practice inside the house before being named designer for the line. His debut collection was presented in Paris in 2019 for Spring/Summer 2020. Kondo’s work continues the house’s interest in the relationship between the body, cloth and movement, while bringing his own emphasis on play, interaction and the lived experience of getting dressed. He also serves as Senior Executive Director (Design) at Miyake Design Studio, a corporate position distinct from his line-level design responsibility. The studio’s leadership and the mainline role are therefore represented separately here. His career reflects a long internal path through the Miyake design organization rather than an outside appointment to a single runway season.
