Paul Morszeck

Paul Morszeck was a German luggage maker and the founder of the company now known as RIMOWA. He opened a Cologne workshop in 1898 to make travelling trunks and cases, establishing the craft and family-business foundation of the maison. His son Richard Morszeck later shifted production toward aluminium and registered the RIMOWA name, while grandson Dieter Morszeck introduced polycarbonate cases and expanded the company internationally. Paul is therefore recorded as the original founder rather than the creator of every later material innovation, the current design leader or an executive of LVMH, which acquired the company more than a century later.
