Nina Ricci

Nina Ricci, born Maria Nielli in Turin, was an Italian-born French couturier and the co-founder of the Paris house that bears her married name. After moving to France and spending many years at Raffin, she established Nina Ricci in 1932 with her son Robert Ricci. She led design and couture while Robert managed the commercial business and later developed its influential fragrance activity. Ricci's dresses were known for feminine construction, controlled drape and close work on the mannequin. Her authorship ends with her own career and is not used to imply responsibility for later Puig ownership or the many creative directors appointed after her death.
