Marc Bohan
Roger Maurice Louis Bohan (1926–2023) was a French couturier remembered for nearly three decades leading Christian Dior’s Paris house. Before Dior, he designed for Jean Patou and worked as an assistant designer to Robert Piguet. Dior’s official history records him as creative director of its London subsidiary from 1958. In November 1960, he was appointed creative director of the Parisian couture house, where his Slim Look translated changing ideas of femininity into restrained, modern silhouettes. Bohan remained at Dior until 1989. His couture clients included Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy, Princess Margaret and Elizabeth Taylor. In 1969, he created the Christian Dior Monsieur line, extending the house into menswear, though its leadership later passed to other designers. His career is best understood as consecutive Dior assignments with distinct London and Paris scopes; the house source does not date his earlier work at Patou and Piguet.
