Kate Mulleavy

Kate Mulleavy is an American fashion designer and the co-founder of Rodarte. She studied art history at the University of California, Berkeley, and established the house in Pasadena with her sister Laura in 2005 without formal fashion-school training. The sisters built Rodarte through research-intensive collections, handwork and narrative connections to California, cinema, painting and landscape. Kate shares creative authorship across the house's runway collections, exhibitions, costume projects and collaborations, and the Mulleavys have retained a founder-led approach rather than separating the brand into a single creative-director role.
