Jil Sander
Jil Sander is a German fashion designer who founded her namesake house in Hamburg in 1968. Its first women’s collection followed in 1973, and the label’s clean-lined design offered a modern wardrobe built around precise cuts, material quality and function. The company expanded into menswear with its first collection in Milan in 1997. Sander led the house through several distinct periods, including its first founder-led era and later returns; those appointments remain separate in the career record rather than being collapsed into one uninterrupted role. Her work outside the namesake house also includes the +J collaboration with Uniqlo, which ran from 2009 to 2011.
