Charles de Vilmorin

Charles de Vilmorin is a French fashion designer who launched his eponymous label in 2020 with images of his creations shared online. Its hand-painted, dreamlike motifs and expressive use of colour informed a couture practice that was invited onto the official Paris Haute Couture Week calendar in January 2021. That same year, de Vilmorin was appointed artistic director of Rochas, an established house whose women’s ready-to-wear collections formed a separate professional chapter from his personal couture label. His Rochas contract ended on 31 March 2023 and was not renewed; the distinction matters because his final house collection and independent work should not be conflated. He presented his first ready-to-wear collection under his own name in March 2023, returned to the couture calendar in July, chaired the fashion jury at the Hyères Festival and created the artistic direction for Galeries Lafayette’s Christmas presentation later that year.
