Carla Zampatti

Carla Zampatti was an Italian-born Australian fashion designer and businesswoman who arrived in Australia as a child. She began her fashion career and namesake company in Sydney in 1965, developing a design language of clean lines, strong tailoring and understated Italian-influenced elegance. Her first boutique opened in Surry Hills in 1972. Zampatti received the Australian Fashion Laureate in 2008 and marked fifty years in business with a Sydney Opera House runway show in 2015. She led the company for fifty-six years until her death in Sydney on 3 April 2021.
