Fashion career profile
Axel Dumas
Axel Dumas is a French business executive and Executive Chairman of Hermès International. A member of the sixth generation of the founding family, he holds a law master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, studied at Sciences Po Paris and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Before joining Hermès, he worked for BNP Paribas in China and the United States. His Hermès career included commercial and retail responsibilities, then leadership of the jewellery division from 2006 to 2008 and the leather-goods and saddlery métier from 2008 to 2011. He became Executive Vice-President of Operations in 2011 and was appointed Executive Chairman in June 2013. His role concerns the listed group’s executive leadership, distinct from the house’s creative direction, held by Pierre-Alexis Dumas, and from category-specific design leads. The profile preserves those scopes instead of attributing collection authorship to the group chair.
