Andreas Kronthaler

Andreas Kronthaler is an Austrian fashion designer and Creative Director of Vivienne Westwood. Born in Fügen, Tyrol, he first trained as a goldsmith in Graz and then studied industrial design and fashion at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where Vivienne Westwood taught. Their professional relationship began in Vienna and developed into a long creative partnership. Kronthaler contributed to Westwood’s collections for years before the house publicly presented the Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood name in 2016, succeeding the Gold Label identity. He has continued to lead the house’s creative work since Westwood’s death in 2022. This role is distinct from ownership and from Westwood’s historic authorship; the label’s continuing design direction belongs to Kronthaler’s current mandate.
