At a glance

The collection places dressing within the shared life of Milan: the opera, the theatre and the piazza. Trotter draws on the intimacy of remembered objects, from a grandmother’s evening bag to a father’s worn shoe, and lets those associations inform a more expressive everyday wardrobe. The setting brings a similar contrast to the fore, surrounding the clothes with red carpet, lacquered columns and individually made seating.

Daywear with expression

Familiar wardrobe forms gain character through altered curves and more flamboyant details.

Personal objects, public life

Memories of clothes and accessories meet the social rituals of dressing in Milan.

A collective act of making

The show foregrounds the collaboration of design, material knowledge and handwork.

The setting

Presented at Bottega Veneta’s Palazzo San Fedele headquarters, with red carpets, lacquered columns and Max Lamb’s 421 chairs installation.
