Brand intelligence
Timberland
Timberland is the American footwear, apparel and outdoor brand developed from Nathan Swartz’s Abington Shoe Company. Swartz began at the company in 1952, and its waterproof injection-moulding work led to the original Timberland boot in 1973. The company adopted the Timberland name in 1978 as the product became its defining icon. Today the brand operates across Work, Life and Outdoor categories and is part of VF Corporation. This profile distinguishes the Swartz family’s historical founder story from current group ownership and does not convert VF’s reported results into Timberland-only revenue or earnings. Its cultural reach across workwear, outdoor use, streetwear and music is important context, but is not treated as a substitute for verified corporate data.
