Gianfranco Ferré
Gianfranco Ferré is the Italian fashion label established in 1978 by architect-trained designer Gianfranco Ferré and entrepreneur Franco Mattioli. Its first women’s ready-to-wear collection was shown in Milan that year, followed by menswear, accessories, licences and couture. Ferré became known as the “Architect of Fashion” for a precise, structural approach to tailoring, proportion and material. The founder died in 2007, and the archival founder era must not be presented as current creative governance of the trademark. This page therefore preserves the documented historical house—its 1978 founding, product lines and designer authorship—while treating any later commercial use of the name as distinct from Gianfranco Ferré’s own creative role.
